ABOUT
EDDIE
Since
winning his first race at age 12 with a pony named Daisy Mae,
training horses has been Eddie Cole's dream and passion. He
became a licensed trainer in 1951 at age 18 and, within a few
years became the youngest leading trainer at Fairmount Park.
He also was leading trainer at Ellis Park in Kentucky several
times. He has based his stable in the Chicago area for the last
43 years and has been leading trainer at Hawthorne Race Course
and Sportsman's Park several times and has been among the leading
trainers at Arlington Park. In 1991, Eddie had 31 wins out of
100 starts at Hawthorne Race Course and, with such stars in
his stable as Peach of It and Explosive Kitten, earned the leading
trainer title. In 2000, Eddie was inducted into the Hawthorne
Race Course Hall of Fame as the third winningest trainer in
the history of the track.

Over
the years, Eddie Cole has established himself as a fixture on
the Chicago racing scene. He is known as an honest, hardworking,
hands-on trainer; who gives each horse under his care his personal
attention and treats them like family. He is also known for
his kindness and compassion for animals and people. His many
years of experience and natural intuition have given him the
ability to unlock the potential inside a horse and find a way
to bring out its best performance, without compromising its
health and soundness. In Eddie Cole's barn, the horse's well-being
is the most important thing. Of course making money for his
clients is the second most important thing.
Eddie shines at developing young horses. Very few trainers have
as much talent and success as he does at conditioning and educating
a young horse, solving their mental or physical problems, and
getting them to their first race in optimal condition. He has
an average of 13% winners with first-time starters.
